Ryusei  Fukagawa　深川隆成

1963 (6^th April)  He was born in Mito, Ibaraki, JAPAN

1963年（昭和38年）4月6日、茨城県水戸市生まれ

1979 He entered  Katsuta high school.  He worked as a cheering group for the student president in the second and third periods and three consecutive years. He was a cheering leader when he was in third grade.

1979年4月　(昭和54年)茨城県立勝田高校入学
　　　　　高校時代は、2年前期・後期、3年前期と3期連続で生徒会長の傍ら応援団で活躍。3年生の時、応援団長。人の為の縁の下の力持ちで応援したり、先頭に立って行事を開催したりするのが生き甲斐を発揮できた三年間。


1982(April)     He entered Takushoku University He was meant to join the supporters group, following the advice from his high school teacher, but it dissolved just before his entrance, so he joined the American football club. He tried to reunite the cheering group by starting a sports newspaper at school to introduce his ideas and support the sports clubs.In the lyrics of school at Takushoku University, he was impressed by the racial color and the boundary of the earth before my standing, and became the cornerstone of his life.

1982年4月　(昭和57年)拓殖大学入学
当時の高校の校長先生から応援団で日本一を目指せと薦められた拓殖大学であったが、応援団が解散したのちであった事から、熟慮の上でアメリカンフットボール部に入部。4年生の時に体育局連合会委員長としてスポーツ新聞の発刊やチラシ、壁新聞などで観客を集めて応援活動も行い、少しばかり夢を叶えた学生生活。
拓殖大学校歌の歌詞にある、『人種の色と地の境我が立つ前に差別なし』に感銘を受け、その後の人生の礎となる。​


1989(January)     He lost his friend from university because of a train accident at the age of 25, and he was so shocked that he drank too much, lay on the road, and was run over by a car. He was seriously injured, suffering head contusions, neck and arm fracture, and he burns.He miraculously recovered from the loss of his memory and was hospitalized for two months with three operations, though he was not expected to survive.

1989年1月、大学時代の友人が電車事故に遭って25歳で急逝した事にショックを受け、深酒し道路の真ん中に寝てしまい、わき見運転の車の下敷きになり、頭の裂傷二個所、首の圧迫骨折、左腕の骨折、右胸と右太ももがラジエーターの下で真っ黒焦げになるなど三日間記憶を失い集中治療室に入る大怪我を負い、3回の手術で2か月弱入院。
警察の鑑定も即死状態との事故であった。

 In a coma, he had a dream that a light like the source of life told him to live for others and make his once-dead life useful for them. He felt that he was meant to live, and decided to encourage people by showing that he tries hard on something, which is the starting point of today’s activities.

その時の昏睡状態の中、生命の源の様に感じる光から一度死んだ命を人の為に活かすために生きろと告げられた夢を見る。
一度死んだ命、自分は生かされている。自分が頑張ることで、人に元気を与えること、人を応援することが自分の道ではないか？それが自分の活かし方と強く思ったのが、その後の活動の原点となる。

To prove that you can be successful from any kind of situation, he started running Ultra marathons, and ran the 100km SAROMA ultramarathon in 10 hours 26 minites, in June.

人のやらないやりたがらないことをやって、どんな境遇からも成功への道が拓けると身をもって示そうと、ウルトラマラソンを始め、その年の6月に行われたサロマ湖100kmマラソンを10時間26分で初出場初完走
 
1992(May)      He won Yamaguchi 100 HAGI-O-KAN MARANIC (the first Japanese 250km marathon) in 36 hours 56 minutes.He ran other marathons such as the Greek Spaltathron (250km) and Jeju Tourism Marathon, in Korea. His best time of ultramarathon(100km) is 8hours 36minutes, and his best result of 24hours running is 205.5km

1992年5月日本最初の250km走である萩往還マラニック250kmの部において36時間53分の記録で1位でゴール。
その後、ギリシア・スパルタスロン(250km)、韓国済州島200km走や国内の24時間走など数多く出場し、幾多の入賞の成績を残す。
ウルトラマラソンでは、100kmマラソン自己ベスト8時間36分、24時間走自己ベスト205.5km

2006            His father died from cancer, leaving debts behind. He returned to his home town in Ibaraki to save the house filled with great memories.He changed his job in order to pay off the debts.He suffered from sudden shift of the using language into English, but it struck him to translate JAZZ STANDARD into Japanese.  He reminds me of the school of Takushoku University, "The color of race and the boundary of the earth without discrimination before my standing." Then he think that he can donate to Africa.Because there are a lot of people who still lack the elementary school though it is a land of the birth of mankind by the profit obtained by translating the jazz of black music into Japanese.

2006年父が自身の事業資金の負債を遺しスキルス性胃癌で急逝。
父と母の思い出の家を守ってとの事から母からの願いで茨城にUターン。
父の借金返済の為に、勤務先の仕事を東京でのマーケティング業務から、茨城の工場の貿易部門に転属。
英語主体の業務に変わり、四苦八苦しながら、好きであったJAZZ STANDARDの和訳に目覚める。
拓殖大学の校歌の歌詞にある、『人種の色と地の境我が立つ前に差別なし』を思い出す。そして黒人音楽のJAZZを和訳して得た収益で人類誕生の地でありながら未だに小学校も不足して字が読めない人が大勢ることから貧困な状態のままといわれているアフリカにいつか寄付出来たらと考える。

2009           He was invited by his university as a leader of supporters group for an American football club.

2009年、　母校拓殖大学アメリカンフットボール部の応援リーダーとして呼ばれる。 

2010            The cheering group reunited after 12 years and had many opportunities to support the football club, which was his dream in college.

2010年入れ替え戦勝利して1部復帰、2011年は１部の舞台で六大学勢との対戦・応援合戦など、四半世紀を超えて学生時代に果たせなかった拓大入学の母校応援が叶う。

2012(January)     He became a member of Takushoku Uni. Supporters Group OB 30 years after his entrance, and did some performances at the matches. (The photo was taken in October, 201５.) 

2012年1月、アメリカンフットボール部応援を続けてきた事がきっかけとなり、
拓殖大学応援団OB紅会に入学30年目にして入会。拓殖大学応援団演舞を行う一員となる。

He experienced live jazz for the first time at a Yumiko Hoshino Jazz concert (she won a Japan Jazz Vocal Award in 2007). He joined some jazz sessions and started to sing his Japanese-translated jazz.

同じく2012年1月、茨城県小美玉市の星野由美子(2007年日本JAZZボーカル大賞で三賞の一つ奨励賞受賞)JAZZコンサートで生のJAZZに初めて出会う。その後、各地のセッションに参加して、自身での日本語訳JAZZを発表。

2013(February)    He studied under singer Kenji Aida (famous for his song ‘Kyoto no yoru’) to improve his Japanese vocal skill. 

2013年2月、日本語の歌唱を磨く為に歌謡曲の愛田健二(ヒット曲：京都の夜、等)に師事。

2015(October)      He studied under Yumiko Hoshino, who inspired him to start jazz. 

2015年10月、JAZZ  VOCALを追求する為に、JAZZと出会ったきっかけとなった星野由美子に師事。

2016(6^th April)      His 53^rd birthday, he debuted at Jazz Live House Hot Pepper, in Tokyo. 

2016年4月6日の自身53歳の誕生日に、池袋ホットペッパーにてLIVEデビュー。

2016(September)    He studied under singer Naoko Ichiizumi to improve her english vocal skill. 

2016年9月より英語の歌唱を磨くためバイリンガルの一泉ナオ子に師事。

Fukagawa sang the Blue bossa in the Japanese at Roppongi Satin doll which was Japanese prohibition until then on November 1９, 2016.

​2016年11月19日、日本語禁止であった六本木サテンドールで初めて日本語でのＪＡＺＺを披露するワンマンライブを行った。そのライブのオープニング曲はBlue Bossa
In April 2017, he began donating concert revenues to a school support fund in Benin, one of the most elementary schools in Africa through the NPO Ibaraki Education Network.

2017年4月より、コンサートの収益をNPO茨城教育ネットワークを通じてアフリカでも一番小学校の割合が少ない国の一つであるベナン共和国の学校支援基金に寄付を始める。




Today, he sings both Japanese and English lyrics, and performs live in Tokyo and his home town, in Ibaraki. 

現在、日本語訳と英語歌詞をそれぞれ歌いながら、物語形式で曲を繋ぐLIVE活動を都内と地元茨城を中心に展開中。

He released his first CD ' The season of Sakura ' on March 24, 2018.
He made the proceeds of the national distribution of this CD to be credited to the school Support Fund in the Republic of Benin.

201８年3月24日、自身初ＣＤ『桜の季節』を発売。このCDの全国流通の収益はベナン共和国の学校支援基金に振り込まれる。


In October 2020, Fukagawa made a donation to the NPO Ibaraki Education Network's School Support Fund for the Republic of Benan to reconstruct the school building, build a cafeteria, and improve the scholarship system.

深川の寄付は２０２０年１０月、NPO茨城教育ネットワークのベナン共和国学校支援基金で校舎改築や食堂建設、奨学金制度整備などを実現させた。
From December 6 to 12, 2022, fukagawa's original song "Homeward Bound in the Wintertime" was broadcasted in a large-scale vision of Shinjuku Kabukicho and Shibuya Center Street.
2022年12月6日から12日の一週間、新宿歌舞伎町と渋谷センター街の大型ビジョンにていじめ防止キャンペーンソング【冬の家路】が放映された。

He release first full-length album CD "The Flow of Time" On January 7, 2022,
2022年１月７日、初のフルアルバムCD「時の流れ」をリリース。


He release a Karaoke of "The Flow Of Time on February 20, 2022.

On May 26, 2022, Fukagawa held a concert in support of Ukraine at Suntory Hall in Tokyo.
2022年5月26日、ウクライナ支援コンサートを東京のサントリーホールで開催した。

On July 13, 2022, Fukagawa began selling the Ukraine support album "Sunflower Loss Of Love".
2022年7月13日、ウクライナ支援アルバム「ひまわり Loss Of Love」販売開始。
He released 4 CD albums monthly from April to July 2023

On September 17, 2023, he will perform at Suntory Hall for the second time, which has been well received.
2023年9月17日に2回目のサントリーホール公演を行い、好評を得る。  
Then he will perform at Suntory Hall for the third time next year from 13:30 on Sunday, September 22, 2024.
そして、翌年2024年9月22日(日)13:30より、３回目のサントリーホール公演を行うことが決まった。

He proved “Keep chasing your dream, working hard on it, and then it will always come true.”, and he hopes it will encourage people to achieve something.

夢は追い求め続け、その為の努力を続けている限り、いつかきっと必ず叶うと身を以て体現していき、これから頑張ろうとする方達への道標（みちしるべ）になるのが目標。

His motto is “There’s nothing you cannot do if you try. There’s nothing you can do if you don’t　try.” 

座右の銘【やってやれないことはない。やらずにできることもない】

He lives in  Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan.
